Pre-Apprentice Program
Do you want to participate in a structured, PAID short-term training program to learn and understand the role of an HVAC Technician? Are you looking for a way to explore careers at Midcoast Energy Systems? If so, our HVAC Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Program may be right for you!
The Midcoast Energy Systems HVAC Technician Pre-Apprenticeship helps participants explore heating work, air conditioning systems, installation of radiation, identification of stock, materials, and tools, and additional industry-relevant soft and hard skills. No previous experience required!
The pre-apprenticeship program will begin by October 15th, 2024 and end around April 15th, 2025. Pre-apprentices will be expected to complete two full 8-hour days, one of which must be Wednesdays, of work per week (250 hours total) at Midcoast Energy Systems. Scheduled workdays will be pre-determined and arranged with the pre-apprentice’s high school. Pre-apprentices will receive their OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certificate. Learners who satisfactorily complete the pre-apprenticeship program will receive a guaranteed opportunity to interview for an HVAC Technician Apprentice position, or another entry-level position, at Midcoast Energy Systems.
This paid on-the-job learning program is designed for anyone who wishes to further explore a career in HVAC services and/or energy systems, and who seeks a guided pathway to potential employment with Midcoast Energy Systems. Pre-apprentices are eligible to receive funding for work clothes, tools, and/or relevant training through our program partner, Educate Maine.
