Our History...
In the 1970’s Bob Hardina bought out a well established Damariscotta plumbing and heating company renaming it Mid-Coast Energy Systems, Inc. It was during the 1976 Arab oil embargo that Bob realized the need to make alternative energy viable for local homeowners. In fact, the Mid-Coast Energy Systems logo, with its bright sun over rooftop, represents his vision to one day install a solar panel on every home. Over the years Bob has devoted his life’s work to the education and encouragement of energy efficiency and conservation.
In 2001 Bob sold the company to employees William Morgner, Ron Russell and David Gamage. Although by choice, Bob’s role is a more limited one, and Mid-Coast, employing the most modern and efficient technologies, continues his fundamental and traditional philosophy of outstanding and personalized customer service. Mid-Coast specializes in systems tailored to its customers’ personal needs and lifestyles. In 2009 the company added an on-site employee training facility further emphasizing its strong commitment to continuing education. Mid-Coast employees are specialists in heating, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, air quality, water treatment, solar and alternative energies. Working together in a seamless integration of efforts these specialists can successfully undertake projects of any dimension, from the smallest to the most complex.
Today Bob’s original business philosophies still fuel Mid-Coast Energy Systems’ collective enthusiasm and have positioned the company to continue to rise to new heights in the years to come.
